This album contains photos of Woodford Halse loco shed plus a couple taken near the west curve to the SMJ, all from the Sixties. Whilst strictly speaking Woodford Halse was not part of the SMJ, it certainly provided many of the locos and crews that worked the western part of the line from the 1950s onwards.
The earliest photos in this album were taken on 22nd June 1963 which was a most auspicious date – it was my friends’ and my first visit to Woodford Halse and it was also the day that we ‘discovered’ the SMJ – thank goodness!
